Embracing Love
Compassionate Therapy FOR THE LGBTQIA+ COMMUNITY
When the world says that you’re broken.
It’s tough living in a heteronormative world where people say you’re “broken,” are “going through a phase,” or refer to who you are as a “lifestyle” because you aren’t a cookie-cutter version of them.
A world that wants you to hide the most important parts of yourself so others feel comfortable.
You have the right to walk through life with pride, your back straight and your head held high. Because you are not broken, you are perfectly you.
Your family wants you to hide.
They say things like, “We want you at our family party, but your partner can’t come. You know how your auntie is. She’s old-school; she won’t understand.” Or “Please don’t wear that… wear this instead.”
Your dad has misgendered you for the 20th time. You feel so disrespected and dismissed that you just stop correcting him.
Some family members are well-meaning, but that doesn’t make their lack of understanding or ‘phobias’ less heart-wrenching or significant. They want you to hide, but hiding is torture.
Besides, you want to live your life “out loud “and show up authentically everywhere; your community, workplace, and, yes, even family parties, just like everyone else.
The devastating impact of being “othered.”
Because society “others” members of the LGBTQIA+ community, you’re more likely to experience crushing depression, shame, fear, and anxiety.
It’s true – the world is slowly (like molasses) moving toward LGBTQIA+ inclusion. But discrimination and marginalization are still off the charts.
Folks discovering or questioning their sexuality or gender identity face unmanageable stress.
It can affect every part of your life.
Depression, hopelessness, and feelings of being worthless plague you constantly.
You’re terrified of being ridiculed, so you isolate yourself from everyone.
And turn to unhealthy coping mechanisms like substance abuse or self-harm.
What we do.
We use scientifically proven strategies like Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness to help you alleviate mental health issues like depression, anxiety, and trauma.
You’ll find your voice, extinguish self-doubt, and protect yourself from others’ aggressions and well-meaning but offensive attitudes.
It’s time to find the identity that feels right to you and learn to be comfortable and confident in your skin.
Let’s walk together in your truth.
We’re a team of LGBTQIA+ affirmative therapists who treasure your lived experiences and are honored to create a cozy space where you can navigate the layers of gender, sexuality, culture, and race that shape your life.

Develop skills to protect yourself from people taking their fear out on you by asking you to hide and pretend to be someone you’re not.
